An Exciting Opportunity
The Max and Marian Farash Charitable Foundation put $50,000 of “faith” in the Coffee Connection’s social entrepreneurship plans to open a third location in Charlotte in February 2013. Combined with our projected business income in the year ahead, along with donations and in-kind gifts from others, we plan to create several new jobs for people in recovery from addiction, expand our wholesale coffee business, open an online store, provide employment training for more women and men in recovery, and create a fully sustainable business and program. In the first ten months since the merger of the Coffee Connection and Project Empower [through Life Listening Resources, a 501(c)(3) organization], we have created a full-time executive director position and two more jobs for women at the original store on South Avenue and opened a second store at the Greenhouse Café on East Main Street. Exciting and challenging times!
we have it fully insulated and heated, of course. We are doing this work step by step as funds are available - all of it in an environmentally-friendly way.
